The Faith Encounter Programme is a small independent organisation (registered charity 1124521) set up to promote religious harmony and social cohesion for the benefit of the public.
Our aims are as follows:
1. Offering an accredited course in Faith Guiding to train Guides of all faiths to receive visitors with confidence and openness at their places of worship in the West Midlands.
2. Facilitating educational visits and programmes of faith literacy for young people and adults, mainly from the region, in order to promote respect and mutual understanding between people of all faiths and none.
The Birmingham Faith Encounter Programme is managed by a multi faith Steering Group composed of experienced people of six different faiths and chaired by the Adviser on Inter Faith Relations to the Anglican Bishop of Birmingham, the Revd Dr Toby Howarth.
The day to day work is carried out by Ruth Tetlow (MA, PGCE, M Phil Interreligious Relations) working as free lance Co-ordinator, part time.
